Tldr: loved the first third, had real frustration with the ending

I really appreciated the sensitive and nuanced portrayal of anxiety and trauma in this book. The bad first impression felt realistic and wasn't overly drawn out.  The slow burn and emphasis on understanding and emotional safety nailed it for me.

I wish the miscommunication hadn't been so prolonged or repeated. It felt out of character given the first third of the book. But
the resolution with the journal was very sweet.

The last plot twist of
the unplanned pregnancy
was unnecessary. The FMC's trauma from her divorce could have been handled without it and imo it and the associated back story pushed things into soap opera levels of drama. A plot element like that really should be in the content warning and it wasn't included in the author's note.

Finally, it feels disingenuous to have an incredibly traumatic
miscarriage and an unplanned pregnancy but with zero discussion about abortion. An ER Dr in MN is absolutely going to have referred folks for the procedure so to have zero mention of it anywhere in the book not only perpetuates stigma, but also it's wholly unrealistic even if it's not the way FMC wants to handle things.

Very fun. Thoroughly enjoyable. Not completely believable in terms of miscommunication issues. Also completely dropped the promotion plotline. Surprisingly, I liked the
pregnancy plotline- tied into the themes of the book well
. The man narrator got a lot better from her previous book

This book was really sweet. I enjoyed Jacob as a love interest , especially because you don’t often read about male characters with anxiety and other mental health issues. I also loved the kidney donation being central as a family member of a recipient.
