Rarely do I read a series backwards, but here I am. And I’m so glad the second and third books had nothing to do with each other. I hate it when I miss the connections from the prior books. So I’m a little confused about what makes these a series.

Anyway, I liked this enough. The writing was pretty good. The characters were likable enough - kind of - Jacob’s good heart was a little too hard to believe. What I disliked was the hackneyed trope of a pretend relationship. To say anything more would to open this up to spoilers, so I’ll only say that it’s one of my least favorite because they are so predictable.

The pace of the romance was off for me. These two were essentially rebounding, and I find it harder to believe that Jacob would donate an organ for Briana rather than just because he’s an organ donor. (Only people getting my organ donations are my immediate family, maybe my best friend, and possibly an anonymous recipient, but not ever someone I’ve only known for a few months.)

Last thing I’ll say is that the relationships in the book were a little too The Bold and The Beautiful for my comfort - no bloodlines mingled, but I found them questionably appropriate.

I am looking forward to reading the book that kicked off the series. Only nine more weeks before I get to the top of the line.

Infinity ✨⭐✨

Abby Jimenez writes the greenest of green flag MMCs and Jacob is the greenest of all 🥹💚 And the growth in her FMCs, like Brianna, is just so heartfelt. It was like getting to cheer on your two best friends as you watch them fall in love.

A Romance that sensitively explores social anxiety, chronic illness and how to trust yourself again after failed relationships. A wonderful read ❤️

This book was incredibly touching. It has tropes that I typically don’t like, most notably the miscommunication trope, but I think it was well-done and I didn’t absolutely hate it. I loved the characters in this book. The FMC is strong, independent, and thoughtful (very relatable) and the MMC is introverted, kind, and adoring. I found myself feeling that the love story was somewhat relatable…there are so many nuggets of truth and wisdom buried in this book. The plot is silly — fake lovers — but it’s so cute you can’t help but smile. There are some heavy parts too that really felt sincere and made me cry. The spice level is low, but the storytelling makes up for it.
