Upon re-reading the novels, it's hard not to see the author's traditionalist, gender-conformist mindset.

Once, I believed in separating the art from the artist, but this is the first time I've had to try doing so while the artist is still alive and using wealth gained from their art to cause suffering.

Writers have power, the living have power, and the wealthy have power. She is all of those things. I have to do what I can to take the power I gave her back, and this is it.

For children who have yet to be jaded by the world, this book will remain a staple.

I never read the Harry Potter books as a kid but I was a fan of the movies, starting to read the series now has been very nostalgic and I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone does an amazing job at transporting you into another world and it was so great to dig into the fantasy genre.

"to have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever. It is in your very skin."

I wish JKR weren't such a turd because this is just as magical and whimsical and warm as ever. she's really sullied her own legacy. that said I did knock the rating down a bit for the fatphobia, which just gets more egregious each time I reread this series.
