It’s weirdly entertaining for so sexist and misogynistic white fantasy written for men who would like to see women closed in their homes and being available for them on any occasion.

A bit of a slow burn, but a great book. I loved seeing the varied POVs from around the Seven Kingdoms, and GRRM proves again that he is a master of character.

EDIT: I bumped it up to a five. Aside from Storm, this is the best character work I’ve read in a book. We get fantastic dialogue, inner voice, and POVs from cultures and characters we hardly ever see. The King’s Landing and Ironborn chapters were among my favs.

This book was my least favorite of the Song of Ice and Fire series. There were no chapters set in the north, which was a huge disappointment. However, I did enjoy Arya and Sansa’s storylines. I wish we had seen more of them in this book.

Most of the action happened in the last third of the book. It is a VERY SLOW BURN. I felt like the story could have been much shorter
