I found A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity to be a wonderful book, putting aside all political aspects.
Whether you are a fan of Bill O'Reilly or not, I would definately recommend this book as he (Mr. O'Reilly) puts aside political references related to his Fox News show, and writes a wonderful, honest, and humorous memoir of his life and how events in his life influenced his thoughts and opinions. Though at times there are political jokes that I'm sure many non-fans would be annoyed by, I believe anyone could enjoy this book, as Bill O'Reilly focuses on life lessons and some of his own, humorous memories. I especially enjoyed the fact that I was able to relate to him, while reading about his childhood and teenage years. I'm sure there is something for all to enjoy in this book, regardless of political views.

This book was engaging and very amusing, a fun read. Bill O'Reilly sets out to illustrate how the experiences of his youth shaped his views on the world today. His anecdotes are at times poignant, at other times hilarious. Certainly, anyone who grew up in the 1950's and 60's will get a kick out of O'Reilly's remembrances. But this is also a wonderful exposition on what goes into the making of character and integrity. From his childhood capers in Catholic school rooms to his early failures and successes in the field of journalism, O'Reilly's memoir makes you chuckle, but also instructs. While learning what it is that makes this man "tick", you are compelled to look inward yourself and perhaps examine what has influenced your decisions and what it is that makes you the person that you are today. This is very good writing, and truly enjoyable Read it!

About half way through I decided I just don't care that much about Bill O'Reilly!

Wow. Just . . . wow. That was the most fantastic, and the most REAL book I have ever read.

I wish I didn't have to say this, but it was not the worst book I've ever read.

Of the Bill O'Reilly books I have been forced to read, this is by far the best one yet. Using his own personal experiences growing up in middle-class America to explain how his worldview was shaped, readers finally get to see the man behind the "no-spin zone." Even if you don't like him, at least you will gain some respect for him after reading this. However, the book falters when he abandons the above described formula that makes this book good. Chapter 9: Conservatives vs. Liberals is a good example of a chapter where he adds nothing to your understanding of him or his opinions. And he seems to mostly abandon that magic formula in the second half of the book (although, Chapter 15's grinds-my-gears feel to it was kind of funny). In summary, read the parts where he talks about his past aand how they made him the man he is and skip the rest.

Much thanks to my dear compadre who lent me this book and introduced me to Mr. O'Reilly's witty and insightful prose.
