Dre is an amazing friend and I hate Seth Rogers so much! I’m so glad Reiko grew from where she was at the beginning of the book to where she ended up in so many ways!

A few chapters into this book I decided I was going to hate it. It completely set itself up to be a bland romance between a boy and a girl who had no real connection at all.

And then it surprised me. By acknowledging that there was no connection there.

The ending of the story left me with no reason to really dislike it. My initial problem was that I didn’t like Seth at all, and I didn’t really like Reiko either. Then it became clear that the relationship between them was toxic, and I thought that it was going to be resolved with Reiko realising that she was wrong all along and forgiving Seth for treating her so badly, and it would all end happily ever after. Instead, Reiko acknowledges that, although she didn’t behave well, Seth didn’t either, and that she never really liked him for him anyway. She liked him for what she thought he was. She got out of the toxic relationship, and she grew as a person. She grew into a character that I actually liked.

I actually related a lot to Reiko as well, in the end. I’ve never really read a book that talks about relationships going wrong in this way, but it’s something that’s happened to me, and something that has happened to countless other people. Liking someone, ‘falling’ for someone, romantically or otherwise, because of your false perception of who they are.

So. Surprisingly, I liked this book.

4/5 ✨ I really enjoyed this book

I read this two years ago for the first time, and decided to re-read it now. A friend of mine from England reccomended it, and when I saw it in a bookstore, I decided to buy it.

This book is filled with heartache, grief, teenage angst and in some way hope as well. It is a very raw portrayal of grief, and how losing a family member can be traumatic. Meanwhile, it has a strong friendship, well-written side characters and realistic family bonds in it as well.
I’d defenitly reccomend this book. I thouroghly enjoyed it.

En mi caso no logré conectar con ninguno de los personajes y con la trama, me decepcionó. Es la primera vez que abandono un libro.
Lo más que pude leer fue 170 páginas, ya casi la mitad del libro y no conecté con lo que la autora quería transmitir.

This book! THIS BOOK!

description

Seriously you guys, this is one of my favourite books I've read so far this year. I've come to love the characters with a fierceness because of how achingly human they are. And that is what makes this book so special, so relatable. Even though Reiko, our MC, has bad traits/habits, you cannot help but love her, because you see how she learns. a.k.a.: the character development is wonderfully well done.

The writing is beautiful, heartbreakingly beautiful. It made me cry, it made me happy... It was if I were right there. It made me storm through this book like a train. I could not put it down.

Please read this when it releases. Trust me.

This book had me so annoyed at times cause the characters made me so mad but then that ending just broke me. And I ended up really liking it.
