This is a brutally honest book detailing all the dark, horrendous and nihilistic thoughts someone can have in their heads.

It is often hard work to keep reading through the pages of death and destruction.

But, as ever, Rollins is totally eloquent, totally committed to the theme, and surprisingly engaging for such a dark book.

I’m not sure whether I actually like this book, but I’m pretty sure it is ‘good’. It’s definitely fascinating.

The style and the personal nature of the writing really ended up taking me for a ride in time here. Even though I haven't lives any of the experiences Henry has, I could still understand a lot of the emotions. I felt transported to my mid 20's, being all along on graveyard shift.

A good collection of Rollin's writings. The main reason I picked it up to start reading is because i was interested in his travel journals. The travel journal portion of this book is smaller than I expected, but the rest of his writing is exactly what I expected. Dark, violent, angry and very very honest. Now on tothe 2nd volume - "Do I Come Here Often?"

he says at the beginning he hopes it's a book musicians take on the road with them to bring them comfort, and to that i say, absolutely not. take bob dylan's tarantula instead and burn this book.

there's so much violence, death, and cruelty in it. there's one section where he actually talks about drinking coffee, and the rest of it is absolute garbage.
