Okay, I think this Booktok one is worth the hype. Yes, it is a little YA at times and there's a huge serving of cringey roman-tasy tropes in there. If you're looking for award-winning literature, this ain't it. But it was easy to read and the plot kept me engaged. It gave me nostalgia for books like The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. And I have to admit I got caught up on the fun and silliness of the dragons and hot dragon riders 🐲

Haven’t read a fantasy in a while and this has made been incredibly self-indulgent. Written like it was so for the author too, but I’m not mad.
