(less than a review, more like a rant)

i was about to give it 3 stars bc of the pacing and the jealousy plot (which is fun for a while and i understand lucy completely) but that ending boys

this book is a lockwood-centric one, we dived into his trauma and motivations for his actions. it's sad af. lucy continues to be the best, we also learn a lot about her too bc she's also tight-lipped about her own feelings about the past (even though it is her narration). holly is a cute addition but i need the author to let us know more about her. george is still the smartest person in the room!

I have this theory that 'books are better' but I saw the series, Lockwood and Co. (all one season of it), on one of the streaming services first. Unfortunately, it ended on a cliffhanger so, I went in search of the books and found a five-volume set written by Jonathan Stroud. The series is considered suitable for children and teens.

Its an alternate view of London where ghosts are a serious threat that can only be seen or heard by children. In fact, once you reach the age of eighteen, your senses begin to dull and you'd best be indoors and behind your protective barrier before dark. So, the children go out to fight while the adults stay indoors; the books center around an agency, composed of three teenagers, that takes contracts to fight the 'visitors' as they are known and work to build their reputation among other, more established agencies.

Having just finished Wuthering Heights, I was looking for a lighter read and the answer to a question that's been plaguing me since the unfortunate demise of the series on the streaming-service-that-shall-go-nameless. I started this account in September so, while I did read the first two books in the series, they aren't on the list for this year.

I loved the world-building that went into this series and I have to say that I couldn't put it down. It's a fast, fun read that kept me engaged from start to finish. And yes, book #4 is only October reading list (that also includes Phantom of the Opera, Pedro Paramo, Turn of the Screw, and The Haunting of Hill House [Halloween theme]).

As usual, never disappoint me and th stroy improve from 1 book to another! I enjoy the argument between Lucy and Holly. The sarcastic peculiar hilarious Skull. Never a dull with George, his intelligent and cake. Amaze with all 3 main Case. And there is Lockwood.
