It’s a fine start to a series, but not the greatest. The fl is annoying… but kind of relatable? I feel like we don’t know enough about her to feel connected to… but her reactions to things are relatable, like flip flopping between which “character” she wanted to play in this situation. The other women seemed more interesting, especially Delyah who was my favorite. One reason I’ll read more is for their stories.

The world building was light and kind of confusing… like they didn’t give enough but also too much? Some things should have remained mysterious while others should be explained sooner. There is enough there that I want to keep reading though because I do find the world interesting.

Our ml is nice, interesting, sexy, but also kind of… dumb? I think it was suppose to represent the “caveman” element of this… but it just got annoying at some points. I guess I just prefer overly intelligent leads over the big kinda dense tough guys. I also prefer my men angrier, especially when it comes to the safety of their women, so his reaction to the women being in danger was tepid.

The first book in a series is hard to get right, I don’t think this really failed in it’s challenge though so 3 ⭐️s is fair in my mind.

i finished it, the dino’s were weird. I only read this bc i thought it was gonna be more “she’s mine” but it was not, no caveman qualities really. FL is abducted with group of women who end up on alien planet and half of them die almost instantly. The ML thinks she is ment to be their holy mother to their tribe but they don’t want to help the other women so she fights and the ML gets injured and everyone is dumb, not good alien romance.

[b:Caveman Alien's Ransom|34858083|Caveman Alien's Ransom (Caveman Aliens, #1)|Calista Skye|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1492197251l/34858083._SY75_.jpg|56098789] begins when seven women who had been experimenting on their university project, a translation device, end up being abducted by an alien spaceship that literally pulls out the roof of the building, as easily as ‘opening a tin can’.

Sparing you from more spoilers; the scene cuts from the cold and frightening space ship to a prehistoric alien planet with alien versions of :-

this-

....but probably larger and deadlier

Aaand something resembling a T-Rex. Probably.

Anyways, the planet succeeds in proving to the young women with every passing second that life on Xren was going to be really hard to get used to.

Sophie is the female lead in this series-starter and finds her love in Jax'zan, the chief of his tribe.
Sophie seems to get adjusted very quickly to her changed circumstances and this made it seem very absurd to me. Yeah sure, there were some bouts of frustration and crying (a lil' bit) and the complaints of lack of coffee but didn't add anything to balancing that particular aspect. Plus, she doesn't even mention about her family after landing on the planet and conveniently decides that she wouldn't wanna leave Xren 3/5th into the book.
Not that she can leave even if she wants to, but I atleast expected some water-works since she'd never get to see her un-mentioned parents ever again.

Jax'zan is shown to be an all-rounder, kinda Alpha male with a hint of protective instincts. But there wasn't any swoon-worthy moments happening between the leads. Well, except for their coupling. Sure they spoke here and there but they hardly spoke about themselves to each other.
Even if they did, it was all about his tribe, her friends, the dinosaurs and food. I don't know about you but it's hard to imagine falling in love while talking about that.

Zero efforts in adding depths to the characters. No background about Sophie or Jax'zan. No mention about their interests and as I previously pointed out, it was all dinos, food, friends and the tribe.

Not exactly a happily-ever-after but it's left open for the next book to pick up from.
