I nearly didn't finish. I so desperately wanted a story about med school and when I saw that the writer was a physician, I had such hopes.

One thing I really appreciated about this book was that it felt real. The author had clearly spent plenty of time in hospital settings, as all of the medical terminology felt confident and accurate. The characters were far from caricatures: while they had distinct personalities, none of them took those traits to an absurd extreme.
There were a few times where the prose felt like it was getting in the way of the story rather than supporting it, but overall, I thought this was a really good read if you're a fan of realistic fiction!
