Happy to discover that it's possible to sit out a couple volumes to allow less favorite storylines to run their course but then return to be impressed anew.

Oh man, could Ms. Marvel be anymore awesome? She's quick-thinking and always looking to do what is right. Even when she has she has to choose between wrong and more-wrong-she always finds a way. In this installment, Ms. Marvell has to fight the people that she has vowed to protect when they try to fight back against her and other inhumans. She (like always) saves the day, but not without learning about herself and how she isn't immune to things like weariness, heartbreak, and hunger! In the last issue of this book, Red Dagger (from Ms. Marvel volume 6-when she goes to visit family abroad) has come to visit and helps her save a runaway train and helps Kamala realize that she has to take care of herself in order to take care of others. I can't wait for Volume Nine!

I'm DNF'ing this because I don't want to read about a world like ours, where we judge and hurt and condemn each other because of their differences. I read comics to get away from that sort of thing, especially Marvel. I didn't want to see a wonderful Muslima superheroine be hurt and condemned and perhaps loose her brother because she's different. I want something that celebrates differences. Sorry, I just... With the Nazi Party coming back and more and more innocent black men and women slaughtered everyday I want a comic that doesn't have that as a plot point. I need to see that not exist, because this world is just a big pile of shit.

This series is so good!! I read other comics, and when I don't like this or that, I nearly convince myself that's just the genre: it's gory, hyper-sexual, graphic, disturbing, death & torture ridden, and makes me feel icky & tired by the end of it. G. Willow Wilson's writing makes me love the genre again--I have fun reading it, even when I'm scared for what comes next. These are the types of stories I want to read again and again.

Also, I need more romantic moments between Kamala/Ms. Marvel and Kareem/Laal Khanjeer! <3 *swoon*

I've said it many times before, I'm going to repeat myself. I love Ms Marvel so much. it gets better with each volume, it's political as fuck (this volume is set during Eid), it deals with the real world politics of superheroes and gentrification and policing of immigrant neighbourhoods. Two more volumes left and I'm shaking
