A short erotic sapphic romance, between a lady and her lady's maid. It's a hasty read with a lot crammed into 60ish pages, condensing character development and really shortening the plot arc. Most of Amelia's character development relies on assumptions from knowing how women of the era were raised - that her lack of interest in her husband meant she was frigid and desiring no one, that she should accept all ill-treatment from her husband, but also that she is sheltered and wouldn't have considered another possibility. Bea is the opposite, having been disowned for acting on her desires, which again relies on some backstory assumption for such a short story.
The transition from lady/maid to lovers is very abrupt because of the overall length. That said, I was delighted and surprised by the resolution to the HEA.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as your first Nicola Davidson, but if you are already familiar with her writing style, this is a fun erotic treat to pick up.

DETAILED TO THE BRIM, but cold showers are needed after reading. And it's too short
Moderate: Homophobia, Sexual assault, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Rape

Very steamy historical romance. Am I ignoring the easiness that our protagonists get out of the issue they're in? Absolutely, but this was just so enjoyable that I couldn't let it bring my rating down.
