not entirely sure how I felt about this. definitely found it a lot heavier (in terms of content; please read the trigger warnings) and harder to read than other classic retellings like ariadne or the song of achilles. but that being said, it fills in the bits that tsoa did bad or wrong, for example, "we woman are peculiar creatures. we tend not to love those who murder our families" YESSSSS SLAYYYYY bc tsoa was definitely romantised. and this book,,,,definitely was not. which isn't a bad thing but it has taught me things about myself ie books that are soley about the ruin r*pe  imprisonment and enslaving of women ate just not quite up my street. however, the writing is HAUNTING both in content and style. I was dreaming of the howling winds that kept the boats trapped at troy.Â
