Another fun, magic ride with the mercenaries. The relationship focus was on Silas and Iz this time, but they were still all one big, violent, deadly family. And I do hope Leo and Dante take center stage next time. While I loved Silas and Iz, they didn’t hit quite the same as Athena and Kon. But I do love this world and chase. Hopefully there’s more to come.

Silas and Izabella are adorable. It was a huge shift from reading about Kon and Athena (and their murderous, bloody ways) to reading about these two. They are so calm and chill compared to Kon and Athena, and they just seem to have their shit together in a whole way we didn't see in book one. I will say that while I enjoyed them as our love interests, I did find them rather boring after the big bang of the couple in book one. It was a lot of pining and secretly longing for each other but not telling each other, and it got old pretty quick.

That being said, the continuation of the plot surrounding Izabella and Kon is amazing. I am such a sucker for a fast-paced, high stakes heist type story, so I was all the way here for this. I AM all the way here for this series. I just wish there was a little more depth to it all.

Fun little read

Just a fun read. Sexy mercenaries, found family, overprotective romance... What more is there to need in a book? I love the way magic is woven into the modern world, and I love the relationship between all of the characters. I look forward to the rest of the series and seeing how the story plays out
