When Vee's beloved aunt dies, the whole family gathers in Smiths Falls (halfway between Kingston and Ottawa if you're wondering) for the reading of the will. Most of them gathered there for the funeral a few weeks ago, too, but they opted too include Vee lest she embarrass them all by being trans.

I adore Vee and want to be her new BFF. Mind you, I think Ben and Shiomi have that role filled between them. And James. Plus I'm sure Luci and Jaqi would have something to say about it too.

Mystery lovers who crave diversity and inclusivity will devour this charming cosy story with a trans protagonist.

Content warnings: deadnaming and a brief but on-page act of animal abuse

I stayed up too late finishing this book!

Vee has some supportive friends and a harmful birth family.  Her found family is so much better.

I'd like to spend some time myself at Bun Journee, drinking coffee and eating pastry.

I don't read much mystery, so this was a fun break for me.
