I got this as part of a Humble Bundle comics bundle, so I wasn't sure quite what I was getting in to.

This is a delightful comic, with kind of episodic one-to-two pages snippets which sum together to a relatively lighthearted but slightly surreal look at teenagers and high school. The artwork is bright and cheerful, with cultural references shoe-horned in all over the place.

There is no explanation for a lot of what is going on in this story, it just works.

2.5/5 stars. Enjoyable read, read it in an hour while waiting at the library, but lacked a deeper storyline I felt.
Fun characters, but a little one dimensional (that being said, I would die for Jim). All it was really about was Teen Dog hanging out with his friends, which is fun, just not very attention grabbing.
Cute art and cool colours, a couple panels (like the ones with him skateboarding and showing the transition of the move) were really cool to me.
A fun idea, but I felt that sometimes the dialogue was kinda cringe ? I think this did come out in 2014 so that might account for it, but sometimes the dialogue was a little stiff to me.
I did really like the concept of it, but something didn't quite fit for me, which was disappointing. Still good, just not as good as it could have been (also I feel really bad rating it low, but also 2.5 isn't that bad tbh, but i still put it as a three on goodreads bc i want the author to do well lol, kudos for creating !!!)

One of my favorite sweet, goofy comics! Teen Dog made me LITERALLY laugh out loud (llol), and had a few moments of unexpected introspection about the high school years. Mostly it's just a really funny read with a great neon palette. Also bonus for queer representation as a happenstance-- Teen Dog is gay, but that's not part of the main storyline

bright, cute, slight

It says Teen Dog, but this book is more kids. It's a fun slice of life comic about Teen Dog, who is always positive and supportive, and his friends at school. Even people who don't like him are his friends and Dark Teen Dog is his older twin brother. It's cute and the bright neon color palette adds to the upbeat mood. The background is minimalist with a lot of swirls to show mellow and grooviness. The lines are thick and wavy but pretty sure. There's not much plot, but familiar premises, like detention, school, battle of the bands, and getting a part-time job. It's cute but slight for plot.

I really enjoyed reading this comic, it had an innocent and upbeat sense of humor and playfulness that was undeniably refreshing.

The protagonists each shared a sense of genuine optimism, as well as passionate enthusiasm for their interests and friends that made them quickly endearing. Multiple jokes actually made me laugh out loud, and I would be unsurprised if it was legitimately impossible to be in a bad mood while reading each issue.
