So enjoyable on audio! I had not watched a Shonda show before (yes, never seen Gray's!), not for lack of interest, they just all came out during down TV times in my life. So I went in with little background on Shona. Well, now I feel like she's a friend after listening to her tell me her life stories as I drove, took walks, emptied the dishwasher in the early morning hours. And, I started watching Scandal, and am completely addicted. So thank you, Shonda, for existing, sharing, and being brave.

HIGHLY recommend this book. Very highly.

Educational. Encouraging. Entertaining. Beautiful. That's what 'Year of Yes' is.
I can't say enough how much I admire Shonda Rhimes. She's been inspiring me long before I read her book. But while reading it I finally got to know a little bit more about the creator of my favorite shows. This book entertained me from the first to the last page. It taught me how much self discipline and determination can do. And what difference one or two little Yes's can make. Thank you Shonda for yet another inspiring artifact.

Loved hearing Shonda herself read it in the audiobook version.

Elements were entertaining and enjoyable. It's well-written.

However, the way she talked about being fat and losing weight were incredibly triggering as someone in recovery from ED. I almost stopped reading. It was framed as "I'm all for body positivity, this is just my experience," but the things she was saying about her body were clearly fatphobic societal messages that weren't purely from her own brain. And repeating them over and over was genuinely painful to read.

Shonda is a pretty amazing woman. Her year of "yes" might not be for everyone, but certain aspects can fit into the lives of everyone.
