This is a sweet and spare book that’s a good inspirational starting point to making your house a home for the cats in your life.

Great ideas for creating custom cat furniture. some of them are a bit over the top, i.e. you have to REALLY love your cat(s) to build that stuff, but cool none the less.

Lots of interesting ideas for cats. Not sure how much of it is applicable for me at the moment, but maybe for the next house?

Overall good, but think he goes a little to far with the integration of cat furnishing with home décor... Wasn't a fan of the "cat walk superhighway" concepts

Like Galaxy himself, this book is full of interesting, useful ideas for making a home more functional for humans and cats, but marred by too much jargon and not a little woo. The sections where Benjamin has a clear voice and those with ideas used by cat owners who have shared their structures were consistently the most useful. While some of the jargon can be helpful (the distinction between cats who prefer to stay on the ground and those who would rather be up high will have a big effect on what will most help the cats and their people), a lot of it seems to be town terms used to further a brand at the expense of clarity. Overall a decent read that had me excited to build for my kitty, though!

Lots of inspiration and explanations about why design choices were made. There were a few how-to sections that talked about the materials and techniques; I was really hoping for more of that technical information. For example, one setup uses a specific IKEA shelf, but according to the specs from IKEA that shelf is only rated for 7 pounds. Is it really safe? How did they decide it was sturdy enough?

I love cats, and there is a lot that I've done around my own home to make it cat friendly for the three felines who live here with me. But there are still things I want to do, and that's why this book appeals to me. I would love to make a catio, or a custom cat tree that incorporates the space I have rather than the carpeted ones that are constantly sticking out into walkways. But unfortunately, I'm not handy. Even the tasks that where labeled as "simple" where far beyond my technical skill. Give me a glue gun, I can totally make you a cat fort out of boxes that will even impress the garbage men when it's time for it to move along to the great recycling dump in the sky, but saws and drills and cutting pvc pipe is just way beyond my skill set and price range. (And space. Even if I wanted to risk limbs with a table saw, where do you think it's going to go??)
So over all, it was fun to dream but it's not as simple as the authors make it sound.

Love it! I skimmed the cat behavior parts since I just finished Total Cat Mojo, but this book has tons of great ideas! I’m in an apartment so there are limits as to what I can put up. Even so, I’ve gotten a few ideas from this book about making existing items work and DIY projects that won’t break the bank. There were even small tips like keeping the water bowl in a separate space from the food bowl because cats naturally don’t go for water next to their food. Mind blown! What a simple change. And it might actually explain some of my kitten’s recent behavior.

This was a library loan, but I’ll be buying this book (and Total Cat Mojo) to refer to in the future. I very much appreciated that catification is a journey not a destination, so I don’t need to feel pressure to get it all done all at once. One step at a time is okay.
