“We thrive because we resist, but we also thrive because, at our best, we live joyfully.”

This book is beautiful. It not only gives faces to LGBTQ activists fighting for their rights in the 60s/70s through the pictures, but it shows the power of an archive. It demonstrates that archival work is activism and it gives a list of recommended books to read to learn more.

Fascinating collection of photos of gay rights protests in New York in the 1960s and 1970s.
