Eu li este livro para praticar ler o portugues (estou ainda a aprender a língua lusa), e gostei. É uma historia bonita, contado com humor.

4.5 stars* - for the fondness I felt towards this book as a child.
*Although, unfortunately, this re-read (many years later) didn't particularly live up to the affinity I had for it :(

Like many I picked this up because the story telling was so rich in his Dark Materials trilogy; however, it had the makings of The Wizard of Oz, but it feel short for me. Enjoyable nonetheless.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The book was perfectly whimsical, and delightfully funny. The narrator was fantastic. I enjoyed the comical way in which he delivered dialogue. As the story progressed, I became more and more aware that this book was a polished gem. That’s when I bothered to see who the author was. Of course the book was good! I love Pullman!

The plot was a little uninteresting but I am a grown-up so that's probably why! It seemed like it would be an easily accessible book with enjoyable characters for children who are growing into slightly longer chapter books.

I went into this thinking it was going to be a three-star read, but I forgot about the awesome storytelling powers of Phillip Pullman. This book is definitely aimed at the younger middle-grade demographic, but I really enjoyed the story. I was smiling throughout. This had some darker themes to it, but the whole story made one nice whole and Lord Scarecrow was much more of an endearing character than I thought he would be.
