Not sure it’s the same collection, mine had 45 stories in it. I enjoyed the writing especially the earlier stories, the Basil stories bored me, although the first one (the scandal detectives) was good. Mostly relationship stories in middle and upper classes so the characters were kinda dull after a while. Also the number of men obsessed with 16 and 17 yo girls is kinda disconcerting too!

I've had this book for ages but can only just now say that I've read each and every story. I wish it had more in it because it was quite expensive at the time and there are omissions; stories that I've either read elsewhere or that I know of and haven't read. That said it's worth a go just for the quiet desperation and extreme hilarity of the Pat Hobby stories. Excruciating but highly entertaining.

Fitzgerald is one of my all-time favorites, and he does great with short stories as well as novels. "Bernice Bobs Her Hair" alone is worth the price of admission.

One of the BEST reads out there (well at least in my library). Cannot get enough of Fitzgerald's tales, his short stories are some of my favorite pieces of literature I've ever read. Great while in Paris eating french macaroon! :)

I have to read these again, but from what I remember they were good but didn't really stand out to me.

Took me forever (three years?) to read all of these, but he's such an amazing writer, it was worth it.

Prior to reading the short stories, I had only read "The Great Gatsby." Fitzgerald captures the age so well, breaking your heart with the tragic stories, all while lifting you up with his ethereal prose. Absolutely fantastic.

I love Fitzgerald's writing but there's only so of poor northern boy falls for rich southern belles.  I understand this is what he relates to and is important to Fitzgerald, but it is just too repetitive to read.
