This book started to feel a bit tedious and slower paced toward the middle making it hard for me to finish. I listened to this on audiobook and hearing the VA shout “No!” nearly every chapter got tiresome as well (no shade towards her though, i did like her narration.). What kept me reading was the overall whimsy and flowery descriptions and the overall mystery of Caraval. I might give the 2nd book a go.

I enjoyed this book! I had fun reading it and picturing the scenes. I felt the ending was rushed and ended a little too perfectly. I am interested in reading the rest of the series.
