I adored this book. It is the story of a young married couple separated by the events of World War 2. He escapes their native Prague. ending up in America; she chooses to stay behind with her family. The chaos of the time causes each of them to think the other dead, and they subsequently remarry.
Many years later at a family event , they finally meet again..
This story begins with that fateful meeting, and takes us back in time to tell of their experiences in the war, including the wife's time in a concentration camp with all that it entails.
I found this to be both beautiful and engrossing..

Wrenching and riveting. Heart-breaking and -mending in one. Brilliantly written. I also learned more about World War II, another glimpse into the Holocaust that I not yet before had. Richman does history justice by piecing together what really happened and how feeling humans probably would have dealt with it. Highly recommended.
