After reading the first 2 books I couldn't wait to finish off the series. I enjoyed it like the previous books, but too many of the good guys die in accomplishing the quest. I did think it ended a little abruptly with not much detail about what happens to the characters after they defeat Maldor. This book felt the most like the Lord of the Rings - two major storylines happening independently of each other with each chapter switching back and fort. An unlikely hero, the seeming invincibility of the bad guy, the hopelessness of the quest, the small little thing on which the whole story turns are very similar in concept to the Lord of the Rings story.

We just finished the Beyonders series as a family read aloud. It was awesome to watch my wife cringe through the wormy zombies and cry at the departure of some of the wonderful characters. There were some excellent surprises (Nedwin...) that I didn't see coming. Not quite a masterpiece of fantasy, but a fantastic and fun series for the whole family.

For a series I started after finding the first book at the dollar store, I have to say I really enjoyed these books. This is partly because it's a fantasy series where the different races aren't your typical: elf, orc, giant, dwarf, etc. The author created his own races and his own fantasy world, which makes it new and exciting.
The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because there is a TON of unnecessary detail in the book. It's very dense; this book is tailored towards 8 year old kids, and no 8 year old is going to be able to get through that. It's by no means difficult to read but I feel like it should really be geared more towards teens. The other problem I had (in all 3 books) was that Jason and Rachel are just too young to be doing what they're doing and comprehending all the crazy things going on. I believe instead of 13 they should have been closer to 15 or 16.It was devastating to see character after character die, and again I think this makes the book a little difficult for an 8 year old to comprehend.
Despite those few problems, I really enjoyed the series and honestly wish there were more books so I could see what happens next.

This was my favorite book in the series. Every moment was action packed and enjoyable

Though the protagonists were separated I loved hearing about their journeys to each fulfill part of the prophecy. The twists and turns were great and I loved how everything came together.

So much happens in this book that I can't break it down & I'm also not sure how so much happened

Good ending to the trilogy. It wraps everything up that is needed, it kept my interest and didn't lose originality like a lot of trilogies I've read recently. I would buy this series.

I've liked this series more than I have any books in quite awhile. I couldn't put this book down! Things were resolved in the end without being horribly convenient. When secrets and conclusions were revealed they made sense and made the story more exciting. I'm looking forward to other series by this author.
