Love this book so much more than the first one. The twist at the end I never saw coming. Reading this is like watching a episode of SVU.

Tracy Crosswhite has gone back to work after answering the questions surrounding her sister's death. She had been working on a homicide when she went back home which had been put into cold cases. Unfortunately it doesn't want to stay there as more women are being killed in the same fashion.

In this book, we get to meet Tracy in her natural environment of Seattle WA as she races the clock to discover the murderer before he kills again. We also get to know her partner, Kins, much better as well as the rest of the crew that she works with.

I loved reading the first book in this series, MY SISTER'S GRAVE, so I couldn't wait to dive into the next book. HER FINAL BREATH didn't disappoint me in the least though the plot line of the female detective being the villain's crosshairs has been done so many times. Mr. Dugoni has such a deft hand with building tension that it all read as new.

I do highly recommend this book and series to any of my readers who enjoy a well written thriller with just a touch of romance. The characters are really easy to relate too. Heck they could my neighbors.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed within are my own.

I accidently requested a copy of book number nine without realizing it was part of a series not that long ago, and I've decided that I'm going to try and catch up with the whole Tracy Crosswhite series before it's due in August. Madness or not, Her Final Breath is book number two and my fourth time of meeting up with main character Tracy Crosswhite after reading the first two novellas. And I'm definitely starting to understand why this series is so popular! Tracy makes for an excellent main character and I really like the dynamics with the rest of her team. It was also great to see Dan and the dogs again... I have to stress that it's important to read the books in order (and the novellas too), because there are multiple references to the past you won't understand otherwise. Some of it will even have an impact on the present case (which was first mentioned in book one in the first place!), so reading the books out of order seems to be a no-no with this series. The case itself is without doubt intriguing, with lots of suspects, twists and turns to keep you entertained. I do have to say that Nolasco was a bit too over the top for me and saying he's extremely frustrating is an understatement; he kind of put a damper on things for me, and I do hope to see less of him in the future. That said, Her Final Breath ended up being a solid sequel and I will be looking forward to continue the series ASAP.
