This was one of the first books I read when trying to get back into my reading phase and I couldn’t have picked a better one! After reading Song of Achilles and Circe I’ve really been invested in learning about greek mythology and this genre of books that’s been dubbed “feminist greek retellings.” It started off a bit slow but established the two protagonists really well and once the plot started going it I was constantly reaching for the book wondering what would happen next. Klytemnestra’s arc was particularly heartbreaking and my favorite parts to read and learning more about Helen’s perspective was really interesting and engaging. I’d recommend this to anyone but I’d definitely look up the trigger warnings first.

I really enjoyed this! I thought that Heywood wrote the sisters with such love and compassion that it helped me connect and feel for them. A sad story, but history always seems to be for women.
