The action ramps up nicely with an eye towards pulling the reader in to what I'm guessing are long-term storylines. Some gruesome moments but a good read.

The adventure continues. Ivan Isaacs now travels to Baldlas to confront the minions of the demonic preacher Jarbilong. Gruesome action with a western setting. I am definitely seeking out the next installment. These are quick and fast paced reads. By the way, readers of this series might also enjoy the Hellsing series. I have read both now, and I do find some similarities.

Min-woo Hyung, Priest: Prelude to the Deceased, vol. 2 (Tokyopop, 2003)

Ivan has made it to Saint Baldlas to face off against Jarbilong (not that this is a surprise, as the opening panels of volume 1 show the beginning of the confrontation for some reason), and we find out that Jarbilong is somewhat more than we thought he was. Meanwhile, the local sheriff is (understandably) investigating the train disaster, which will, I assume, rope in some more sidekick-style characters; the first two books are pretty solidly focused on Ivan and Jarbilong. As a result, the weakness of the first two books in the series is that no one else really has much to do, leading to a lot of passive minor characters. I've been told this changes in later volumes, and I'm looking forward to it. But if you're looking for nonstop action and a whole lot of blood, the first story arc of Priest should be right up your alley. ****
