I like the timeliness of this book and how it referenced Making a Murderer and other true crime documents. I was bummed about one part. I won't tell you what part because this is a no spoilers review. The book is entertaining. I would like to read a sequel to this book starring the retired detective.

This book got me out of such a reading slump recently!
I would read it on my Kindle while feeding my littlest in the middle of the night, and I actually didn't mind losing sleep (which is something you will NEVER hear me say
8). It moved quickly and I was really hooked, and honestly pretty thrown off by the twist at the end.
My fellow thriller-lovers will like this one!
Synopsis: Sidney Ryan is a filmmaker looking for her next big hit, so when she gets a call that a woman has been wrongfully imprisoned in a foreign jail for 10 years for murder, she's all over it. Grace Sebold was convicted of stabbing her boyfriend Julian in the tropical paradise of St. Lucia, and while the physical evidence is convincing, so are Grace's unwavering claims of innocence. Sidney begins releasing each episode of the docuseries as she uncovers more information, and her ratings skyrocket. But if Grace didn't kill Julian, then who did? From corrupt government officials, to jealous ex-lovers, to close friends that owe a life debt, there are plenty of disturbing options. And as Sidney gets closer to the truth, she'll have to decide if her television career is more important than her life.

4 show stoppping stars to Don’t Believe It! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
My first read from Charlie Donlea was engaging and propulsive and a fabulous Traveling Sister group read to boot!
The Girl of Sugar Beach is a popular documentary covering whether Grace Sebold murdered her boyfriend while on spring break in St. Lucia. When the book opens, Grace has been in prison for 10 years, and Sidney Ryan agrees to produce the documentary in an effort to (hopefully) prove Grace’s innocence.
Sidney quickly becomes a pseudo-detective in her production role, and evidence falls in her lap that could change everything. Is Sidney really helping to free an innocent Grace, or is she possibly working for a brutal killer?
It took a little time to get into Don’t Believe It, but once I did, it took off! At first, I was not sure about the documentary scenes, but they ended up adding interest and perspective to the story.
I clicked with so much about this book. The likable characters, the fresh premise, and the twists that I never saw coming had me fully invested in this wild ride with a satisfying ending.
Overall, Don’t Believe It was an original, gripping, and fascinating read. I highly recommend this book to psychological thriller fans, and I am looking forward to reading more from Charlie Donlea!
Thank you to Charlie Donlea, Kensington Books, and Netgalley for the ARC. Don’t Believe It will be released on May 29, 2018!

Ok let me explain what happened...It took a while for me to get into, and then I was IN. The documentary behind the scenes POV was so fun and the DETAILS, so good. And then there was the holy whiplash moment of who done it. But the ending?!!! Gus never figured it out?! AFTER FINDING OUT THE TYPE OF SHOE???? And her film partner never realized either??? After she told him she was going to see Marshall??? Dawg the whole thing pissed me off lol

This could have been a great book, but that ending was so deeply unsatisfying that it completely ruined the entire book for me.

I really enjoyed this book until the ending.. like what the heck was that? So many loose ends and no book after it? I’m so confused and have so many questions…
