WHAT A CLIFFHANGER. This book will tear you apart in the end but holy moly, book three will be resurrection for sure.
If you love sci-fi, robots, poc involved stories and, of course, romance, this series is one of the best.
I can't wait for Book 3.

I have found this to be a very decent YA space trilogy so far. The writing is good. The philosophical ideas discussed work seamlessly within the plot, and doesn't seem preachy at all. Abel and Noemi are a great unlikely duo, and they really quite precious.
If you are a Star Trek fan like I am, there's a great inverted Borg theme that goes on and it's so creepy and great!
Highly recommend.
Content is free of sex and profanity.

Well.
HOW WILL I SURVIVE TILL THE NEXT BOOK NO I AM NOT OKAY THAT ENDING WAS EVIL!
Also, like, people should read this series because it's really quite good and written in third person present tense which there is never enough of and there's great characters and cool spacey stuff...
BUT THE ENDING!
In the novel, I think Virginia really understood what I went through:
"It's all right... But I just - I need a few seconds to just, I don't know, flail around and make pterodactyl noises. Let me do that okay?"
Noemi's not sure what that means until Virginia grabs her long hair and makes a screeching sound that does in fact sound like a large prehistoric thing in distress, at least as Noemi imagines it.

I thought things were tying up into too nicely of a bow at the end. Cliffhanger!
This one wasn’t as fun as the first but boy do they travel across space super quickly. He’s told to get to earth in 2 hours when he’s off planet. I can’t guarantee I’ll make it to Target from my house in 2 hours without planning.

I don't have much to say, except that I enjoyed this one even more than the first. Most importantly, if you liked the first book, then this book is everything the first one is plus more action. It begins a few months/several months after the first book and it doesn't take long for Noemi to get caught in a web of Mansfield's attempts to get Abel back.
I really enjoyed this sequel, loved the human-mech dynamic. Loved the supporting cast. There are a few questionable moments which I hope the third book will resolve. But mostly, I do like Abel's own personal debate over the Inheritors and Simon.
(Simon is somewhat creepy! Props to Claudia Gray for naming him Simon and giving a whole new meaning to 'Simon says'.)
