Another okay read by Kathy Reichs. I’ve been bingeing the series and so far it’s kept my attention. There are a lot of dated stereotypes and fear mongering going on in these novels that I’m not a huge fan of, but it is interesting to learn about the history of Quebec and the issues that were going on 25+ years ago. I didn’t like this book as much as the first one, but it was still alright. I do appreciate the focus on the victims in these novels, rather than the killer. Although, in this novel in particular, the two dimensionality of the motor cycle gang members is contrived. I guess the bad guys be bad guys (and nothing else).

Another delightful murder romp with the forensic pathologist Dr Temperance Brennan.
It's formulaic but fun. She always solves the crime. The police are constantly ignoring her or telling her to butt out due to her not being a policeman and you are never in doubt she will survive and save the day.

This book is probably the one I've enjoyed the most so far. I felt the story flowed really well and everything tied together well in the end.
Having lived through the time when the biker wars were at their height in Montreal, I remember it all so well even though I lived in Toronto so I found how she wrote that in the book fantastically done.
I was happy to see that things with Andrew Ryan were sorted for her in the end as well because that was so bizarre. I missed him not being in the book, if I'm honest.
The only character that I would have liked to have seen a bit more was Quickwater. That was a bit of a lost opportunity in my opinion, but that was my only criticism about the book.

I read the Temperance Brannon books out of order. I enjoyed to see her relationship with her nephew and for once she didn't get herself into too mutch trouble. I would prefer if she did not try to solve as many things by herself.
