Cutesy. Not ground-breaking. Everything is very convenient throughout. Also WAY too many HP references for a book published in mid to late 2021. Referencing Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger isn’t the feel-good, unifying experience it once was.

I thought I would really enjoy this one, but unfortunately I was left disappointed. I’m going to sound really mean by saying this…but I found the June to be a bit sad and borderline pathetic. I understand what the author was trying to do, but I think they went a little bit overboard with it. Also, where’s the spice? There was a single kiss throughout the entire book and it didn’t add much to the plot. The one saving grace of this book was Stanley just cause of how iconic he was.

This book was not what I expected, in the best possible way. What I thought would be a cute rom-com became a heartwarming raw and beautiful story of grief and finding your voice.

Needed an emotional reset after Tender Is the Flesh, and this worked just fine. Libraries are king.
