The story felt kind of repetitive, but I did enjoy
when the tables were turned and Teo got the shit beat out of him lmao.

Interesting premise, but the ending felt like a cop out.

Beautifully written! Incredibly stressful!
I will say though, I do think it could've done without that last chapter. The chapter before that felt like a solid ending enough.

This book infuriated me in the best way possible. Following Teo, a young medical student  that is taking care of his paraplegic mother meets a young woman named Clarice at a barbecue. He becomes so obsessed with the that he abducts her and their journey across Brazil begins.

First of all, Teo is an absolute psychopath. Throughout the entirety of this book, my mind was completely wrecked and I just kept thinking, ‘this man is a psychopath who genuinely thinks what he’s doing is out of the goodness of his heart’ think Joe Goldberg amped up to one hundred. The writing was intense, it kept me on the edge of my seat but it irritated me the entire time and there were points I’m surprised I didn’t toss this book against the wall and scream at the top of my lungs, especially due to the last two chapters of the book. A classic abduction thriller turned on its head, and some parts made me cringe out of pure disgust, but I absolutely loved every second of this incredibly wild ride.

Would have been a great book if not for the ableism.
The correct language for people with dwarfism is people first language or ‘little people’. A lot of people with dwarfism dislike the term dwarf because it plays into the Disney mythical creature ideology that’s both dehumanising and greatly infantilising. The author also repeatedly talks about how disabled people are burdens. And also made a comment about how pathetic it was that someone ‘looked like an Indian’.
