I actually enjoyed this (book 2 of the Love in Provence book series) book better than the first. I felt the characters had more dimension and the main character was more interesting. The setting of the book is gorgeous and the author has a way of writing with realistic imagery to put the reader in the setting. This book and the first in the series aren't fast paced, but rather beautiful stories focusing on the location and somewhat slow lifestyle lived in the area. Even the mystery doesn't really pick up the pace of the book, except in one instance of driving. I'm looking forward to book 3 because this one ended with a huge cliffhanger.

This is the second of three books in this series, and it's another page-turner that continues the story of Katherine, her friends, and her life that we got to know so well in the first book. Because saying too much would spoil the first book, I will remain vague with the details here. But you will walk with our friend Kat as she experiences intrigue, romance, and lessons learned in this book. You will learn about the unique Christmas traditions practiced in the South of France, and I've decided after reading this book that I will explore incorporating the use of "santons" in my own holiday displays. They sound fascinating and charming. I would recommend reading the first book, The Promise of Provence, before starting this one in order to understand references and character development from that story. But this is also a winner from Patricia Sands, and I very much look forward to reading book three which I plan to start this very afternoon!

This was an interesting story and I had been looking forward to it after having enjoyed the first book so much. The characters were well-developed and the ones who were supposed to be appealing were. Set in France, the country itself was like a character-- very evocative and pleasing.

Definitely a fun read and a great introduction for the third book!
