Read this to my children over the weekend; expected them to find it a little dull having read a lot of David Walliams recently but they loved it and have asked for the sequel... children never fail to amaze me!

I think reading this as an adult probably didn’t help my view of it. I just thought that the children in the school were cruel and bullying... not sure if this is how schools ran back in the day and I know she began to laugh at her nickname, but the whole ‘call her a baby until she conforms’ didn’t sit right with me. Also, joan’s mother... WTH?!?

super good, quick read, about a spoilt girl who gets sent to a boarding school, but she is trying to be naughty so the school will send her back home as she doesn't want to be there, but not everything goes to plan

Probably Enid blytons most empathetic work. Elizabeth is brought back into a status quo... But the status quo is unabashedly communist and loving. I really enjoyed it. Just a couple of lost stars because it is very repetitive. Each character has to be told things over and over.

Loved reading this with my daughter. Soooo sickly sweet but brought back lots of memories of reading this series as a child myself. Roll on the next one :-)
