3.0

Whilst there was a lot that happened in this book, I didn't feel like Roxy and Reece were outstanding characters that stood out to me. They work well together and make a believable couple, but I didn't come away with the feels I have for some of the other couples in this series (Jase and Teresa still top it for me).

There's a lot of emotional angst in this story, and a bit of a serial-killer/mystery stalker storyline that had me rather intrigued. I found the happenings past and present more interesting than Roxy and her relationship with Reece, mostly because her doubts dragged out a little too long for me to build their relationship well. Whilst I understood WHY and was glad Reece called her out on them, I just found the back and forth to really weaken her as a main character. Both Reece and Jax have a very similar feel that I think I didn't really garner much of an opinion of him outside of him being a hot cop and ready to call Roxy out on her bullshit - once they got over the silly 11month feud. Seriously, I thought something bigger happened there, and again, that bothered me that it was blown out of proportion.

The mystery around who was targeting Roxy kept me interested though, and when it all came out, it was executed so well I was stunned. Sure, I figured who the perpetrator was long before Roxy and the others did, but I didn't expect all the sick stuff that was happening and wow, that was written well. I can trust on JLA to really deliver on her plot twists when it comes to darker stuff.

Overall, it was an average read for me in this series.
