Although this book dipped into darkness, overall it was enjoyable and uplifting. I grew to love Duchess Goldblatt and empathize with the writer's pain. The audiobook casting choices worked well. It was a quick, beautiful read.

Surprisingly delightful, thoughtful, tender, funny, wise, with more than a touch of sadness, grief, and pain. Duchess Goldblatt is a fictional character created by an anonymous woman who needed humor and lightness to help herself deal with pain and loss and the upheaval of her life. It started as a selfish endeavor, but Duchess ended up being a source of humor, love, and light for many. And a means of connection to many people, including Lyle Lovett! I didn't know anything about Duchess before this, I'd never heard of her or followed her on Twitter, but I'm delighted to have discovered her through this book. This was a Modern Mrs Darcy bookclub pick, and I probably wouldn't have read this if not for that. I'm so glad that I did!

I went into this not knowing a thing about it other than it fit a prompt for a reading challenge. Not only was it a pleasant surprise to love the book but I also found a new favorite Twitter account. Long Live The Duchess Goldblatt!
