A gorgeous fantasy that portrayed a fantastic blend of magic and realistic fiction. There was something unique and fresh in the way this story has been crafted in such an overarching and detailed way. At times, this complexity and detail made the story feel quite dense and erring this book away from a possible young adult audience. The expansive amount of POVs within this story only adds to this.
Despite the complexity and detail, there was an overall sense of lacking explanation at times. This took away from a smooth reading experience for the reader.
But for readers looking for an intense and captivating fairytale-esque story, this is a fantastic read with countless elements to applaude.

This book was all over the place. There was too much going on and the timelines were confusing. It was very difficult to get through and I didn't enjoy it at all sadly.

Beautifully written with an interesting conciet. Maybe not the book for me at the moment, but definitely recommended if you like fairy-tale inspired stories, especially those of the darker variety.

Ich muss sagen, dass ich schon ein wenig enttäuscht bin, obwohl ich keine hohen Erwartungen hatte. Das Buch wurde unnötig in die Länge gezogen, wodurch es stellenweise echt langweilig war. Die Charaktere waren mir alle nicht sonderlich sympathisch und deren Entwicklung wirkt viel zu künstlich. Ich kann dem Buch nur 2 Sterne geben, weil mir der Plottwist gefällt, wie dieses Buch als Bestseller in England durchgehen kann ist mir ein Rätsel.
