I thought it would have a bit more of action for Jahrra as the Main and important character that she is...or some more clues to understand the reasons for the prophecy.

I really enjoyed myself during this read, I looked forward to the appearance of certain characters. I liked the near instantaneous friendship in this, and the antagonistic students made for some entertaining chapters. I also loved the bond Jahrra had with the dragons in her life.

I found this a slower book, although I enjoyed and did want to finish it didn’t always leave me wanting to read more.
Follow the journey of Jahrra from her birth and through her far from conventional childhood. Jahrra goes through many obstacles in life from school to friends to loss. Not currently knowing her true point in life watch follow her journey learning about her background and developing her life with her friend and master Hoombra.
Although I overall do like this book some of it was a little slow for me. It is a fantasy book and the thought of dragons and elves does appeal to me sometimes the story feels little drawn out.

It could just be that I'm not actually the intended audience for this book, despite my general love of fantasy. I felt it needed at least one more good, solid editing pass. Also better and more consistent worldbuilding (though not necessarily on the page).

knowing nothing about this story going in, except that I liked the authors other stores, I didn't realize it was about a young girl. The world is interesting with the sense of building for a long tale. There's still so much left to find out, it only touches and hints at what's really going on but there's enough to be intriguing.

This is a great story with various dragons, elves, and only one human! There is great character building. The only objection I have is the amount of detail in the descriptions of everything in this world. I got distracted from the story itself because I tried to skim through some of those very descriptive pages. I enjoyed it very much other than that. I'd also like to point out that there is a pronunciation guide in the back of the book. I would have liked it in the front so as not to struggle with the unique words of this story. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I definitely want to read the second book in the series very soon.
