Perfectly fine family drama, but it won't have much staying power with me. Characters and plot were fine. Nothing terrible, but nothing fantastic either. There is drama, lots of hurt feelings and then everything wraps up with a nice bow at the end. Oh, and The entire book seems to be about how being a parent is the hardest job in the world and no one else can understand how hard it is. Meh.

The beginning was slow. It was hard to develop feelings for the characters at first but once that happened the book became better. I didn’t love some of the choices the characters made but I still thought this was a good story about family dynamics, relationships and the difficult choices that come from day-to-day life.

This reminded me of J. Courtney Sullivan's MAINE - the family dynamic, the converging on the family home. It was a good read, an impressive debut.

It was working out to be a two-star book but the ending redeemed the whole thing. A pleasant summer read.

This book was satisfying in the same way that watching the television show "Parenthood" is satisfying for me--it's about a loving, functional family whose grown children still have their fair share of drama and dysfunction. Three grown children return to their parent's home in Vermont and get stuck there for various reasons. Not a whole lot happens, really. But Moore's insight into families and parenting is quite astute and tender without being overly sentimental.

A family story of adult children and their parents. Sweet tale that felt like an amalgam of several novels combined with episodes of the tv show parenthood. A quick read of life in NE in 2008 when three adult children and their myriad of issues come home to their parents for an extended visit. A little too neatly wrapped up at the end.

Another beautiful family saga. I found it a bit harder to keep track of the characters in this one, but I found the messages if forgiveness very fascinating. I really want to know what happens with Jane's job though.
