There was some parts of this widely known story that I had pictured quite a bit differently, but I did enjoy Heather's take on things. This book made me really appreciate what our first parents went through. I loved especially seeing what might have happened after the garden, their reaction to the challenges of their new world, surroundings and their changed bodies. I didn't want it to end!

Not Biblical.
It's basically the right story, but with way too many discrepancies to overlook. Satan is a man, NOT a serpent. Eve's constant questioning about beyond the garden. Eve WANTING to leave. Yup, nope.

The story of Adam and Eve from the garden at the beginning of time has always been an interesting topic and much debated -- are we all doomed because Eve chose to eat the fruit from the tree? Why did God give two such conflicting commandments? While the book doesn't attempt to answer any biblical conundrums, it was interesting to read her perspective on the way things could have happened. I enjoy Moore's writing and character development and story lines, and her historical fiction writings I've found particularly interesting and engaging. I read this book very quickly, but, having read a few of her other biblical/historical fiction books, this one wasn't quite on the same level for me. I did enjoy the insights into how Eve could have thought when the story was told from her perspective in the first person. I also thought it was interesting when the story switched to being told from Adam's perspective (in the third person), to see their differing perspectives as male and female to the commandments and responses to the situations they encountered both in the garden and out. I struggle with giving this 3 stars; it's probably more 3.5 stars, but as I've given so many of her other books 4 stars or more, I just didn't feel comfortable giving this one a 4-star rating, so my rating may be a little deceptive because I did still enjoy this book.
