This book series is one of the best things of 2023. I absolutely love it!!!
I've read some other books by Julie Klassen, but as of now, these two are by far my favourite ones written by her.

Winter by the Sea is continuing the story of the Summer sisters. In this instalment the front row it is given to Emily Summers, our want to be writer girl.

Since Julie Klassen did a fantastic job painting and building solid characters in the first book, everyone is well known to the reader (provided they read the first book first) and the story flows naturaly.

The Duke and Duchess of Kent rent neighboring Woolbrook Cottage for the winter, and that stirs up a whole cycle of events, some happier than others.

The beauty of this book is in reading it. It touches the reader's heart and leaves one with a sweet and warm feeling in their soul.

I am looking forward to the next one and I am rooting Julie K will chose Sarah for her next book. I would love to see her reunited with her Scotsman.

Just not her best book. The writing is immature.

This is such a great series! This second book picks up a little bit after book 1 ended. Viola is married and living next door. Sarah is still running the guest house and Emily is now trying to write a book. Some of the guests are still in residence from the first book, though now one of the princes (the King had four sons) moves in next door and three of his staff move into Seaview. There's romance, of course, but plenty of interesting side stories as well. The two books in this series have been my favorite of Julie Klassen's so far, and that's saying something because I love her books! I can't wait for the third to come out this year. I listened on audio and the narrator is perfect.

Emily matured so much from the last book. I really loved her in this book.

A Winter by the Sea by Julie Klassen is a historical romance novel with Christian main characters. It is the second book in the series set in Regency Devon, in England.

It follows Emily, one of four sisters in this series, who has set up a guest house in Sidmouth. She has always wanted to marry her childhood friend, but also to publish a book. A royal duke and his family come to stay at Sidmouth and some of their staff move into the guest house.

This is a heartwarming story of romance and family affection. It has a love triangle, but I felt it was justified. I loved revisiting the characters and the place (which is a 30 minute drive from me). I felt at home again from the start of the story and although it is a fairly long book; I wasn’t ready for it to end.

The pace is sedate, but it never felt slow and I never got bored. I liked this one better than the first book. In part, I think that was because I already knew the main characters liked them.

There are some things that I would love to see in the remaining two books in the series, especially in the last Christmas themed book. But I will have to wait a while to continue.
