Nicely retold myth of the King Midas but what is really outstanding about it are the illustrations! So many little details in the full-color, full-page artworks and even the initial capitals change to match the story.

A fairytale I know well and really enjoy.

As with all fairytales, this one has some really great messages and ones that are incredibly relevant today - that not everything is about money and how corruptible greed is.

TW/CW: Temporary child death.

The illustrations in this book were really detailed and I loved the full page spreads throughout the story. It reminds me of looking at some different art pieces in a museum. The moral of the story is a great reminder and discussion starter about what we value most. It was well written and engaging throughout the whole story.

A great little story that can be used at so many levels with 5th graders.

They never do take an economic perspective of what happens when you flood a market with something.

Lovely artwork, a pretty basic retelling of King Midas.

Beautiful illustrations, lovely version of the story.

My kids had some complaints that it wasn't like some of the other versions they'd heard ("Why didn't they say the 'mysterious figure' was Dionysus?" "You know, Mom, in the earliest versions of the story, they didn't even mention Midas's daughter."), but overall we very much enjoyed this book.
