This was so good! Amir is in the crime world but it had a different take as I wouldn’t consider this book dark really. I liked how Zadie stuck to her good morals throughout the story and didn’t give into his illegal lifestyle just to be with him. I also loved the side characters. In particular Marco and especially Julian. They were funny and sweet… can I just take them home with me?

If I heard the MMC call the FMC “mama” or “little mama” in any other book I would probably hate it but it worked so well in this story! I can’t help it, I loved it so much. I just really liked them together. I’ve been searching for a book recently that shows the slow-burn into their relationship and this book delivered for me. To be clear, I wouldn’t consider this a slow burn book as their attraction for each other is clear fairly quickly but, we actually get to see them slowly develop into something more!

I loved this book just as much as the first one and I can’t wait to jump into Elena’s story. Just the little glimpse into their relationship in this book has me so excited!

I was so intrigued by Zaddie and Amir when we met them in Soft Like Thunder. When I found out that they were getting a book I was beyond excited and the author absolutely delivered on bringing their story to life.

Zaddie comes off as a sweet and almost timid but she has an inner badass that's dying to come out and Amir is definitely the perfect one to pull it out! Amir is the kind of guy that she should stay away from, especially after the last book but some how he makes her feel safe and protected. I loved the dynamic between these two and Zaddie was one of my favorite characters from this author. I enjoyed Amir's character and i couldn't definitely see the appeal for Zaddie.

The story was well written and the plot moved at a great pace. I loved seeing everyone in the group and I can't wait to see what comes next in this series.

*I received an early copy of the book, all thoughts and opinions are my own*

Amir, Amir, Amir.... I might just be a little bit obsessed with him. I one thousand percent should not be into this absolute psycho of a character, but this guy just captured my attention from the get-go. I'm not sure what that says about me as a person. LOL I think in my heart of hearts I may just be a little bit Zadie, in more ways than one. I definitely saw pieces of myself in her. I think that's why I enjoy Julia Wolf's writing so much. She's able to create these life-like characters that people can really relate to.

In Bright Like Midnight we finally got to find out what happened that night in the dorm...if you've read the first book in this series (Soft Like Thunder) then you know exactly what night I'm talking about. I had my suspicions about that night.... I was pretty close to being correct. LOL What starts as a 'deal' between Amir and Zadie turns into Zadie being everything Amir never knew he wanted. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Amir's entire being change as he was enchanted by our sweet little Zadie Night.

This book was not without the drama and angst that's expected of a dark-ish romance either. There were a few moments that had me tearing up for sure. And as always, Julia has to throw in that side character that I just fall head over heels with and need more of. In this book, that is Julien. He's just such a fantastic addition to this whole crew.

Y’all, this book was a wild and dark ride— and I loved it. Zadie is quiet and cautious. Amir is is intense and a total alpha. When Zadie finds herself in a situation indebted to Amir, they both realize their chemistry is more than they bargained for.

Their connection was obvious and felt all consuming. I loved their evolution and their HEA was perfect for them.

There were a lot of surprises and twists in this book which tracks with the way the first book was, as well as kept this really interesting and fresh. The side characters continue to be a joy in this book as well. Truly a strong and dynamic world Julia is building. I already can’t wait for the third book.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
