toxic relationship and stalking explanation:

zoey durand’s ex-boyfriend, ashton, breaks into her apartment in chicago (she isn’t there at the time), he sends her threatening messages and bombards her with phone calls, and he tracks her down in mistpoint harbor and confronts her while she’s in her family’s bar (she’s not alone during the confrontation). the most graphic section includes ashton luring zoey to the woods where he chases her with a knife, cuts her leg, and attempts to drag her over a cliffs edge. zoey survives, and ashton is killed when a secondary character, amelia, shoots him and he falls over the cliffs edge. this graphic section takes place during chapter 32, but is discussed slightly in chapter 31 and the fallout is discussed in chapter 33.

fire/fire injury explanation:

babette brambilla was caught in a fire when she was younger, and it traumatized her to the point she cannot be touched. minor discussion of second degree burns
