this was so sweet and fun. Mary Poppins is much stricter and more conniving than her movie portrayal would suggest. she is feisty and has a mean raised eyebrow. Jane and Michael (and their baby twin siblings!) learn so much and are desperately in love with their nanny through all these antics. such a fun read/listen.

nothing gives you that warm, jolly feeling like a children’s book <3

Certainly is very different from the movie. Mary P. is a completely different lady in the books. I found the trips around the world and to the zoo to be oddly tangental. I would have edited out those portions of the book. Very random little excursions.

Unexpectedly dark and Victorian - a series of dreamlike vignettes rather than a traditional book.

Practically the only book where the movie is so, so, so much better.
