well well well. It’s like a copy and paste of old magazines i used to read in elementary. Nothing new, just feels like quotes compiled together to form a book

Great to read and re-read whenever you feel like it. It holds a special place on my bookshelf, perfect for a confidence boost and reconnecting with your identity.

Genuinely, I look forward to reading further works by Florence Given as she develops her thought process.
This is essentially a Feminism 101 handbook for your younger self, an unapologetic release of the pent up frustrations of being a woman whilst acknowledging the intersectionality of it all.
It articulates a lot of sentiments that are difficult to express, something I wish I’d known how to do in my teens. Making it an empowering gateway for those just beginning to explore feminism.
It does however fail to acknowledge how the patriarchy is a construct that fails all genders and the constant dismissing of men didn’t sit right with me. I do understand this is part of the journey of evolving one’s personal feminism, especially off the back of trauma and the suffering continuous harassment, so I’ve definitely been in that frame of mind.

Loved it. Most of it is things I already knew but sometimes you really do need to hear or read it written down for it to click in your head. I want to reread it again immediately. Or at least yearly. And next time I'm going to use a highlighter. So many "yes! That!" moments.

I feel a little bad about this rating because Florence Given is so young and it isn’t a bad book, but it basically rehashed everything I already know (kind of an Introduction to Feminism?) - 2012 me would have loved this though
