The hype lead me here, but all I can say is that I think this book was trying to hard to be something grand. A lot needs to be tightened up - it just kept going in circles, filled with redundancies rather than fleshing-out the characterization or world-building that was deeply needed. That being said, it was good enough that I'll continue with the series to see where it leads.

I enjoyed this book as a whole. The pacing was slower than I'm used to, and I don't usually enjoy such high amounts of character driven plots. All the characters are complex and utterly unlikeable in the beginning. Some go through growths, some stay the same, and some get worse. I thought I knew what was happening several times and seemed to miss the mark most of the time. I'm not very good with mystery 😅
I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series!
