This otherwise stellar memoir was a bit ruined for me by the ableism (both in description of a real person and use of the r-slur), as well as the repeated use of various slurs. These were mostly spoken by background characters, but I believe a more sensitive approach is possible. It was also very male gaze-y at times, which I really hoped wouldn't be the case, but male cartoonists keep letting us down, I guess. Still, this was a gripping read.

I won't give this graphic novel a rating because I won't give a rating to someone's life. It is a hard topic and I praise the author for being so vulnerable.
I do however wanna point out that there is a lot of ableism against people with down syndrome, and even the use of the r word.
So, be cautious.

One thing I loved, this graphic novel is so... quiet. A lot of snow, no hard sounds. Perfect if you wanna enjoy a quiet moment alone
