As a person who has no interest in designer things. It was kinda hard for me to digest everything. It was so different from the movie, but this book gives more depth understanding to every character than the movie. So it was kinda okay.

I have a lot to say. Not a fan of the writing style. Or Nicks grandma and mother Eleanor.
When she was talking about Rachel not being good enough it reminded me so much of my mother.
The only normal person in that was Phillip young, nicks father. Idk just wow. I love Rachel and her mom’s relationship. I understand why she did what she did. Amazing. Kinda drawn out, like half of it was chicks talking about wealth and money and how much stuff they had. I didn’t hate Michael because he was also the only normal guy
but the way he reacted towards wealth, but come on man that was a coward move. Anything else would be better.
I mean it’s Astrid, me too man. Makes sense why Charlie is still head over heals for her, because same. And Colin was normal also. I love how genuinely tired he is (even if it’s like depression) there wasn’t really a lot of mental health issues present in it. So I’m glad we got a little of that in it. Bernard is a complete dick.  Fuck him. So overall I loved it, even though it was confusing to follow. I will not remember most of their names finishing the rest of the trilogy though

Very much like the movie, although I did prefer the ending in the book. This book focuses on the legacy of the large Shang-Young family, so if you find it hard to keep up with several characters this one might be one to avoid.

my favourite thing about this was seeing rich east asians flaunt their money, that was it. the plot was meh, very predictable and the ending was so vague. there was no growth of characters and the main characters were very flat. i also didn't like the use of a lot of racial slurs and the term exotic used to describe good looking asian people, felt creepy

It’s a funny book, but there are some parts where reactions are missing. A lighthearted book. Would recommend
